From the “release early and often” files :

JBoss Messaging 2.0 beta is out. According to JBM lead, Tim Fox – New features include, performance, performance, performance, flexible clustering, seamless high-availability, large message support. See Tim’s announcement for details.

Thomas Diesler has some thoughts on how the JBoss Microcontainer could fully implement the OSGi spec. It will be interesting to see the results of this and it will be a great example of the power and flexibility of the JBoss architecture. JBossOSGi 1.0.0 Beta2 was released last week.

If you are eager to try out Eclipse 3.5 / Galileo and want to explor the upcoming features in JBoss Tools / JBDS you now can – JBoss Tools 3.1.0.M1 is available. See what’s new and noteworthy.

The recently released Seam 2.1.2 includes improved support for JAX-RS (RESTful web services) – more details here.

Finally, we have a free online seminar tomorrow (June 10th) at 9am EDT, 3pm CEST which covers Web Beans (JSR-299 / JCDI – Java Contexts and Dependency Injection). More details here.

Tha VAR Guy on Red Hat, desktop Linux and JBoss middleware.

Red Hat’s JBoss business hits overdrive. Matt Asay of c|net interviews my boss – Craig Muzilla (VP of Marketing for the JBoss division).

AS 5 is significant investment in JBoss’ the future; the new architecture will allow us to quickly adapt to future changes and continue to outpace the competition; while maintaining a stable platform and operational footprint.

Now I just want to see the new admin. console working !

Sacha (JBoss’ CTO) has blogged his thoughts on AS 5 and recalls some of the history of it’s inception. Dimitris Adreadis (the JBoss AS lead developer) was interviewed on InfoQ and talks about some of the main features and his views on the prosposed Java EE 6 profiles and OSGi.

It’s great to see the innovators rallying around such a good cause – but look at the dates !

“provide an up-to-date server model that gives enterprises the features they want.”
- Rod Johnson, Spring Source CEO – April, 2008 [link]

“GlassFish v3 has a modular, lightweight, extensible architecture”
Sun Employee, glassfish.net – June, 2008 [link]

“JBoss’ modular architecture means customers can also choose the features they want, instead of installing a full J2EE application server on devices with limited processing and memory capability.”

Marc Fleury, JBoss CEO, December, 2002 [link]
