Tab Sweep – Red Hat

A quick message from my sponsor
Matthew Szulik (previously CEO and now Chairman of Red Hat) has been declared Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur Of The Year(R) 2008 Overall National Winner and winner in the Technology category. In doing so he (and Red Hat) joins some pretty good company – previous winners include Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com, Steve Case of America Online, Howard Schultz of Starbucks. First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then they shower you with prestigious awards (with apologies to Mahatma Gandhi).
There a nice interview on Information Week with Red Hat’s current CEO (Jim Whitehurst) – he’s (obviously) upbeat on Red Hat’s prospects going in to and coming out of a down-turn.
Red Hat was also named as public company of the year by the North Carolina Technology Association – “Companies nominated for this award were evaluated based on sustained growth, solid operating results and stock price appreciation”.
Red Hat and Fujitsu are pushing Linux higher and harder with a new support program for mission critical deployments.
Finally – Fedora 10 will be released in just 7 days.
I don’t care about Fedora 10, where’s JBoss 5??
Alfred, hang in there – it’s being buffed and polished as we speak. The last I heard is that GA will be out in about a month.
