JBoss (a division of Red Hat) is hiring. One of our Technical Development Managers (the most excellent Bruno Georges has moved to a new role in APAC sales) so we’re looking for a replacement to manage the Portal Platform and common framework teams.
We’re also looking for curriculum developers and trainers for JBoss Middleware.

Talking of jobs - I like the chart below (it came from Indeed job site) - draw your own conclusions but I think it demonstrates the relentless progress we’re making against much bigger and more powerful competitors.
I hope you get some good people for the training/curriculum positions. I took a clustering class a little over a year ago and it was absolutely the worst training I have ever had. A colleague of mine took the admin class and he said the same thing. I have taken several classes over the years from Sun and IBM and their classes were light years ahead of the clustering class.
I got much more out of jbossworld this year. I’m hoping the admin class gets “fixed” before I’m scheduled to take it, which should be sometime in the next year.
Joe, thanks for the frank feedback - and I’m sorry the courses weren’t up to the standards you were expecting. I’ll pass your feedback on to our curriculum manager.

Joe - I am the global lead for our training business. Rich brought your concerns to my attention. I’d appreciate it if you’d email me additional feedback on your experience with JBoss training. We’re in the process of adding five additional JBoss Curriculum Managers and Instructors (a large investment for us) to bring the JBoss training up to the level of our Red Hat courses. Thanks for your concern. I have already sent feedback to Red Hat through my employer and was offered a replacement class. We are waiting on the curriculum to be tweaked before trying again. Hopefully that will be early next year if the travel dollars are there.
It would be nice if there were more classes geared towards admins. Maybe there isn’t enough material for that but IBM has 3 or 4 websphere classes for administrators. If i remember correctly there is a basic admin class, advanced admin class, performance tuning class and an automation class. I took all of them and there was some overlap but they were all very good except the automation class.
I wanted to take the jboss basic development class but unfortunately my employer wouldn’t allow it because I’m an “admin” and not a developer. I wanted to get a better understanding of the developers job so I could help troubleshoot problems and spot poor design choices.
I like jboss but it is somewhat hard to come up to speed on if you are not coming from a development background and are expected to be an admin for it. I work for a large company and most of the people on our team are coming from a sysadmin background into this line of work.
